CCC Recent Project Highlights
Energy Auditing And Engineering
Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future - The Institute for Environmental Science and Policy (IESP) at the University of Illinois at Chicago advances cooperative research, scholarship, and service that support a sustainable environment. We facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration by teaming scholars with their counterparts in the public and private sectors to devise workable solutions for complex environmental challenges. For the third year, CCC has proudly supported the UIC-IESP through External Board activity. http://www.iesp.uic.edu/ Other New Projects for 2005 Food Wastewater Dissolved Protein Recovery - This ongoing project involves recovery of edible proteins from process water. Initial efforts were aimed at developing scope of potential separation processes including filtration, evaporation, ultrafiltration and centrifugation. Cost of new equipment will be balanced against waste receipts and increased sale of recovered product. Pilot testing is scheduled for Early 2006 Forensic Engineering Litigation Support - CCC provided key engineering root cause analysis regarding the death of a chemical worker engaged in operating process equipment. As a result, this case settled without going to trial. New Technology Assessment - CCC evaluated a novel waste to energy municipal solid waste process to turn MSW into ash and energy. Work for confidential venture capital client included cost and environmental effectiveness as well as recommendations for further process testing and evaluation. US EPA and Environment Canada - Provided key regulatory interface between CCC client, Environment Canada and Health Canada and US EPA regarding introduction of new product into Canada already listed with USEPA. Process/Environmental Heat Recovery - Heat Exchanger sizing, cost and sourcing for process off-gas stream to both reduce emissions and avoid process interruption due to boiler flame outs. Environmental Wastewater Discharge Permit Excedence Review - Assist client in verifying compliance upgrades including vacuum pump, scrubber and operator procedures to eliminate future potential discharges. OUR MANAGEMENT APPROACH CCC treats its client's challenges as if they were its own and draws out the best from the project team (client, CCC, vendors, regulators, etc.) to achieve successful projects. Building quality teams is especially important when interacting with regulators and public on environmental projects. |
